How many Monarchs have you seen this year? Anecdotal reports that I have heard- along with my own personal experiences – seem to indicate this was an improved season for one of our favorite butterflies. RTPI provides fee-for-service environmental expertise and capacity to a variety of national organizations. We are currently involved in the long-term environmental clean-up effort of a historic trap and skeet shooting range on the Long Island Sound, carried out by the DuPont Corporation. Our staff monitors potential exposure of dabbling ducks and shorebirds to residual lead shot at Stratford Point, Connecticut, as part of a year-round and ongoing large remediation and coastal habitat restoration effort. This radiant sunset is from last weekend at Stratford Point while overlooking the grasslands and soon to be pollinator meadows. It will be a very exciting year for the property as it is continually improved and studied by Audubon Connecticut, Sacred Heart University, site owner DuPont, and RTPI.
