I wonder if our region will be lucky enough to receive a Northern Hawk Owl (Surnia ulula) this winter…you do not have to wait to spot one, though, if you come visit us at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History in Jamestown, New York to see Art and the Animal on display. October is a common time for many species to get moving, and birds like the Common Eider – the largest duck in the Northern Hemisphere – do not feel so far away with the type of weather we have been having in the last few days.
