GreenUp Jamestown Coalition Events Commence February 28th

The GreenUp Jamestown Coalition (GUJC), of which RTPI is a proud partner, announces their first Earth awareness program. Becky Nystrom, JCC biology professor, environmentalist, LEED expert, and recipient of last year’s GUJC Eco-Award, will present “Earth Stewardship/Creation Care: Seeking Nature’s Truths through Science, Philosophy, and Faith.” The program will be held in the undercroft at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 410 North Main Street, Jamestown, New York, on Wednesday, February 28, at 7 p.m. All GUJC activities are non-sectarian, free, and open to the public. RTPI’s Conservation Technician, Elyse Henshaw, paid a visit to Houghton College http://www.houghton.edu/ this week to deliver a presentation on the Eastern Hellbender, North America’s largest salamander species. Hellbenders are declining at an alarming rate due in large part to deteriorating habitat quality, but RTPI is working with partners to raise awareness of the plight of these iconic amphibians, and to take measures to conserve remaining populations.
