Posted on Mar 8, 2018

Chris Linder will present “Adelie Penguins of the Antarctic” and “The Big Thaw” on Wednesday, March 21st at 7p.m. in Jamestown Community College’s Scharmann Theater in Jamestown, NY. Linder, photographer, filmmaker, and visual storyteller, holds a bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy and a master’s degree in oceanography from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanography Institution.

Linder’s education provides the unique skills and insights to record the nuances of scientific exploration and research and to document the ecological wonders of nature. After 50 expeditions and more than two years exploring polar regions, Linder is now focused on communicating stories and scientific findings from the Congo to Siberia. His images have appeared in museums, books, calendars, and magazines, including Smithsonian, Audubon, Nature’s Best, and Wired. When not flying in a helicopter over Greenland or riding on an icebreaker, Linder loves to share his insights and experiences. He has presented over 100 talks, and is a dynamic artist and presenter of scientific exploration.

Sponsored by JCC’s Earth Awareness Club, JCC Faculty Student Association’s College Program Committee, Student Senate, JCC Foundation, Katherine Jackson Endowment for the Humanities, Weeks Gallery, and the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History in collaboration with the GreenUp Jamestown Coalition (GUJC). Linder’s program is among the events that run through May 3rd, 2018. Visit GreenUpJamestown.com for the complete listing of events.
