Giving Tuesday is Today! – Your Gift Will be Matched
All donations made to the Giving Tuesday campaign will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $5,000, by our generous challenge match donors.
When you donate to the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, you are helping to provide training and opportunities for high school and college students in the field of natural history study and research through our Conservation & Education Programs, funding stewardship of the Roger Tory Peterson Archives & Collections, and helping RTPI educate about the natural world in our own back yards and how we can preserve and protect it.
Conservation & Education Programs
We are hard at work on conservation, education and research efforts in New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania, conducting surveys for at-risk or imperiled species like the Piping Plover (Charadrius Melodus), gathering information on indicator species, creating management plans for important sites, monitoring federally and state-listed birds and turtles, surveying for unrecorded odonates and lepidoptera, discovering rare plants, finding wintering raptors, and creating novel initiatives with local organizations, regional businesses, SUNY students and citizen scientists to create a better knowledge and appreciation of the natural world and the vast resources our environment has to offer.
Every Gift Makes a Difference
$50 will buy a month’s food for our captive Hellbenders
$100 will purchase two turtle traps or one bird net to study at-risk species
$250 will fund a biological survey
$500 will help fund a student summer internship
$1,000 will equip a bird banding station
$2,500 will send a student on a bird banding expedition in Costa Rica

The Roger Tory Peterson Institute is the only official institutional steward of the life works of Roger Tory Peterson. RTPI is the place to find his art, correspondence, film, libraries, study skins, and so much more. We are the sole authorized holder of these works.
