Great Spangled Fritillary (Speyeria cybele)

Posted on Jul 31, 2014

The Great Spangled Fritillary (Speyeria cybele) butterfly is a neighbor we have all probably seen flying through our yards or gardens at some point. If you’re fortunate you may see them frequently but I doubt you have ever seen one like this – I certainly have not! Look at the unbelievable level of detail on the intricately patterned wings. Photographed by Twan for the Meet Your Neighbours global biodiversity project.
