RTPI will be hosting a special one-day fundraiser to benefit our resident hellbenders, Oneka and Tweeg. In May of 2017, Oneka and Tweeg came to us from the Buffalo Zoo to RTPI to serve as animal ambassadors and help us educate people of all ages about their incredible species. The Buffalo Zoo generously donated the hellbenders’ set-up in order to ensure a smooth transition to RTPI. However, we would like to provide them with a new and improved set-up to give them more room to grow in the coming years and to provide more opportunities for public interaction. 
Activities include:
• An opportunity to meet Oneka and Tweeg up close!
• Kid’s coloring contest-the top three winners of the contest will have their artwork on display with Oneka and Tweeg!
• Salamander cookie sale!
• Basket Raffle* and mini raffles**.
• Showing of “The Last Dragons” a beautiful video about hellbender conservation and the need for clean water resources.
*The basket raffle will include a hellbender stuffed animal made by Ellen Paquette, Kayak Rental from Allegheny Outfitters, Peterson Field Guide to Amphibians and Reptiles, nature-themed photographic print by a local artist, and a Wild America Nature Festival water bottle! Tickets will be $2 per ticket or 3 tickets for $5.
**Kids can get in on the raffle action as well and purchase $1 tickets for a chance to win an RTPI backpack, Turtle t-shirt and more!
Adult’s will pay regular admission, children 12 and under will be admitted free of charge. Proceeds from this event will benefit RTPI’s hellbenders, their conservation, and preservation of our clean water resources. We hope you’ll join us!
