The Art of John and Suzie Seerey-Lester

RTPI is very pleased to announce a new exhibition featuring original works by John and Suzie Seerey-Lester this summer! “Keeping the World Wild” will give visitors a glimpse into the inspiring work of this incredible artist duo. With work hanging at the White House and in permanent, private and Museum collections throughout the world, John Seerey-Lester has become one of the most renowned of today’s wildlife and historic artists.

He moved to America over 30 years ago, making it his base of operation, and is now proud to be a citizen of the USA. He has continued to travel the world in search of images, over the years, preferring to paint from life. He has visited such diverse locations as Africa, China (where he painted the rare Giant Panda in the wild), India, the Arctic and Antarctica as well as Central and South America. It was a visit to East Africa over 35 years ago that gave birth to his interest in wildlife. Published by Mill Pond Press, John has had over 400 different limited edition prints produced over the years, which led to him being one of the most sought after artists.

John has gained a reputation over the years for producing images with a narrative and which are both mysterious and mystical. Now he has taken this skill to produce a remarkable series of paintings depicting historic hunts of safari legends. John is on the board of The Roger Tory Peterson Institute, the Board of Artists for Conservation, and has a regular column in Sporting Classics Magazine. You will frequently find him featured along with his paintings in numerous magazines such Sarasota Magazine, Dallas Safari Club’s GameTrails, the NRA’s American Rifleman, and Ring of Freedom, as well as Informart, African Hunter, Sports Afield, Wildlife Art, Western and American Art Collectors. He is a member of The Society of Animal Artists, Artists for Conservation, Oil Painters of America, and a founding member of Southern Plein Air Artists. Tweed Roosevelt calls John” The Preeminent Modern Day Artist of Theodore Roosevelt.”

Suzie Seerey-Lester was a professional diver for over 30 years. As a Diving Instructor Trainer, Suzie traveled around the world, as the first woman to teach diving, and license instructors. While working for the CIA, she taught CIA Agents, Secret Service Agents, U.S. Marshals, FBI Agents and other law enforcement personnel how to dive, perform search and recovery as well as other “specialized” skills. She taught President Ford’s Secret Service Agents, some of those special skills. Traveling gave Suzie the opportunity to see extraordinary underwater creatures up close, (and some scary stories) which she captured in her earlier paintings.

Suzie now travels worldwide to paint, including the rainforest in Guatemala, Africa, England, Spain, Mexico, and Italy also nearer to home, Alaska, California, Florida, South and North Carolina, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, and Maine. Suzie has expanded her artwork to include plein air (painting on location). She is a Signature Member of the Society of Animal Artists (SAA), Artists for Conservation (AFC), Oil Painters of America (OPA), American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA), The Wildlife Artists Association (WAA), American Women Artists (AWA), a founding member of Southern Plein Air Artists (SPAA), and The PhArtists.
