For Throwback Thursday here is the view from the front of Roger Tory Peterson’s Jamestown home. You can also see a sign with a young Roger for our new cell phone tour called, “In the Footsteps of Roger Tory Peterson.” The mobile tour has fifteen stops scattered around the Jamestown area, highlighting Roger’s childhood and other locations where he was first inspired by nature, portraying how he began a lifelong career devoted to art, conservation and education. This is part of a project being developed by RTPI – the “Wild America” Cell Phone Tours – that allows people to learn more about our local lands. Through these rich, interactive, self-guided tours users can learn place-based information about the environment they are in, whether it is while out hiking, biking, snowshoeing, skiing, snowmobiling, photographing, driving or otherwise enjoying nature. We hope you get out in Jamestown to enjoy all of the stops.
