We are now entering sparrow season in the great outdoors as the Northeast fills with many sorts of species on the way south. You will first be sorting through loads of Savannah Sparrows and Song Sparrows, Swamp Sparrows and birds like Sherrie York’s Chipping Sparrow seen here (spring plumage shown), followed later by White-throated Sparrows and Dark-eyed Juncos, and perhaps even something more uncommon like the Vesper Sparrow or Lincoln’s Sparrow. Come see how many species you can find on our walls at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History’s Art and the Animal exhibition.
