Snowy Egret Saved

There is no doubt that the Migratory Bird Treaty Act saved the Snowy Egret (Egretta thula) from extinction. Beautiful plumes of feathers from these gorgeous birds were so desired that they were hunted to the brink of annihilation. What other birds will be so threatened if the Migratory Bird Treaty Act is so weakened? Power lines and birds

Earlier this week I read a story about a bird rescue by the fire department from my hometown. It seems a gull had gotten tangled in fishing line – an unfortunately common occurrence easily avoided if everyone fishing would clean up after themselves – and then compounded the problem by getting stuck on power lines!
