Help Connecticut’s waterbirds

Connecticut volunteers and citizen scientists, can you assist in erecting string fencing and signage for Piping Plovers and other waterbirds? The first date is tomorrow at Sandy/Morse Points in West Haven at 10:00AM where our group will meet in the parking lot. Volunteers should bring: work gloves, water, a snack, appropriate footwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, hats and whatever else you may need avoid too much sun. Shorebirds are arriving

Shorebirds are finally beginning to arrive in Connecticut after a continually cold winter and now early spring have meant the Atlantic Coast has been slow in seeing their usual March residents. Piping Plovers showed up across the state in the last week. American Oystercatchers have been around for about a month but in very low numbers.
