Stratford Point October 17 Walks
The U.S. Coast Guard is hosting an open house at Stratford Point lighthouse in Stratford, Connecticut on Saturday, October 17th from 9am-3pm. Audubon Connecticut’s Director of Bird Conservation Patrick Comins and RTPI’s Conservation & Outreach Coordinator Scott Kruitbosch will be co-leading bird walks at Stratford Point at 9:00, 12:00 and 3:00. This date corresponds with the peak of birding at this spectacular birding spot. Here are four quick iPhone photos that I took yesterday while walking the length of Stratford’s Long Beach all the way to Bridgeport’s Pleasure Beach during string fencing and signage removal operations with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and Audubon Connecticut, our partners in the Audubon Alliance for Coastal Waterbirds. The Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History and Audubon Connecticut teamed up to instruct and ready our new WildLife Guards Crew Leaders, Alivia Sheffield and Emily Allen, from June 22 through June 26 in preparation for our WildLife Guards (WLG) program, which trains, mentors, and employs ten local high schools students.
