Roger Tory Peterson, one of America’s foremost artists, naturalists and ornithologists, and creator of the Peterson Field Guide series, was one of the first to make the world of birds accessible to everyone. In keeping with Peterson’s legacy, the Roger Tory Peterson Institute invites you for a field trip to the Buffalo Zoo on August 20th to experience Boomerang Island, an interactive exhibit comprised of over 300 birds representing a variety of species native to the Australian Outback. The U.S. is part of the Earth

Continuing my recent theme of considering philosophical concerns in regard to conservation and education issues I wanted to discuss a problem that is persisting well into the 21st century: that America is the center of the universe and anything that happens outside of its boundaries is irrelevant in terms of our natural world.
