The Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History (RTPI) is currently hiring area high school and college students to work alongside its conservation staff this summer for the fifth annual Project Wild America Youth Ambassadors (PWA) Program in Jamestown. Building on the successes from the past four years, students enrolled in RTPI’s PWA program will immerse themselves in Jamestown’s ‘urban ecosystem’. Project Wild America Wrap Up

It’s 7am and about 55° on the morning of our last turtle trapping day with our Project Wild America Youth Ambassadors. I roll up to the Riverwalk to find all our students ready to give things a final go. All of us are beat from a long couple weeks of intensive trapping efforts and exploration of various sites along the Chadakoin River. Empowering Women in STEM related fields

On February 14 I got the opportunity to be a speaker at Jamestown Community College’s “Empowering Women: New Careers, New Frontiers” event. The event was geared towards encouraging young women to explore careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields, and roughly 200 high school girls from area schools came to participate in the event.
