Great Spangled Fritillary
Here is an old photo of a Great Spangled Fritillary (Speyeria cybele) that I never posted from the gardens of the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History. Spring is coming, and I am anxious for the extra life in the air and green on the ground, plus all those delicious colors for beautiful creatures like this to nectar on. This Great Spangled Fritillary (Speyeria cybele) was a tricky butterfly, staying hidden from my lens in some very harsh bright sunshine and dark shadows, making its individual features all the more bold.
