Fox Sparrow

Any time we see snowfall from mid-March on, we might notice an increase in the number and species diversity of birds at our backyard feeders. Those who pay close attention might also have the opportunity to view more elusive birds – those that would otherwise just be passing through or returning to the area relatively unnoticed – that are driven out of their preferred habitats by the extreme conditions in search of food. Parts of Connecticut and New York have been inundated as well and everyone across the Northeast has felt frigid air with barely any days above freezing, totally lacking any significant thaws. It is the definition of...

Snowy February

With the sort of active, stormy and snowy weather we have been experiencing in the last few weeks the landscape takes on a very different appearance. Heavy snow in desolate, mature woodlands covers everything and leaves only hints of colors. Did you even notice that this photo is actually really and truly black and white?
