Roger Tory Peterson’s first job

Here’s a 17 year-old Roger Tory Peterson for #TransformationTuesday with this photo taken during his first job after graduating high school. He painted Asian motifs on lacquered furniture for the Union National Furniture Company until 1926 when he left to pursue art studies in New York City upon the recommendation of his boss and mentor Willem Dieperink von Langereis.

We’ve all seen who Roger Tory Peterson grew up to become and we frequently post pictures of various adventures throughout his adult life. For #TransformationTuesday here’s an early shot of the young naturalist Roger working those cameras back when it used to be a tad bit more difficult than it is now.
