Twan described it as looking like a bunch of jelly beans or blueberries. The species is very common throughout the Costa Rican lowlands, but few people pay close enough attention to realize how beautiful they are.

Yellow-headed Gecko (Gonatodes albogularis) by Twan Leenders

Here’s a little vibrancy after another snowy and cold day for us in the northeast. It feels like forever since we’ve seen reptiles and amphibians but this Yellow-headed Gecko (Gonatodes albogularis) from Costa Rica reminds us that despite the current conditions it won’t be long now until we see some relatives in our own backyards!
