The Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History is pleased to partner with renowned photographer Mathew Tekulsky to exhibit his stunning backyard bird images from January 13 through March 8, 2015. All of the photographs in the exhibition are featured in Mr. Tekulsky’s book Backyard Bird Photography (Skyhorse Publishing, 2014), from eastern species such as the Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Blue Jay, and American Goldfinch to western species such as the Allen’s Hummingbird, Hooded Oriole, and Western Scrub-Jay.

In recent years, Mr. Tekulsky has dedicated himself to photographing birds in his gardens in the Brentwood Hills of Los Angeles, California, and in Adamant, Vermont. His bird photographs have been displayed in such places as the Harvard Museum of Natural History and the U.S. Department of the Interior Museum, and his bird images have been published in numerous books and magazines. Mr. Tekulsky is the author of the “Birdman of Bel Air” column for NationalGeographic.com, and in 2015, Skyhorse Publishing will release his books The Art of Hummingbird Gardening and The Art of Butterfly Gardening, each of which will include more than fifty of his photographs.
