RTPI Traveling Exhibit
Wild America: The Art of Roger Tory Peterson at the Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art
The Roger Tory Peterson Institute uses art to inspire appreciation of nature, utilizing the extensive Peterson Collections as well as world-class exhibitions from visiting artists. Though thousands visit RTPI’s spectacular facility each year, not everyone is able to travel to western New York to see the beautiful art that Roger Tory Peterson left in our care. To share Roger’s work with a broader audience, we are preparing exhibits to travel to other venues. Our newest initiative for 2017 will take Roger’s amazing work on the road – the first stop, the Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art in Millersburg, Pennsylvania, April 7 – August 27, 2017.
Ned Smith was a talented painter, illustrator, photographer, amateur archaeologist, and writer. He illustrated the Peterson Field Guide to Birds Nests, and created the first Pennsylvania Duck Stamp, among many outstanding accomplishments. Stay tuned for a Special Summer Event – Friday night reception and Saturday morning bird walk with Lee Allen Peterson at the Ned Smith Center, tentative dates June 16 & 17, 2017.
“Brown Pelicans” by Roger Tory Peterson, on loan to The Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art, Millersburg, Pennsylvania, through August 27, 2017.
