Jane Johnson joined the staff at RTPI in November 2014 as the Exhibits and Public Programs Coordinator. She then began overseeing the Institute’s collections, and now is serving as the Director of Exhibitions & Marketing. A native of Bemus Point, NY, she spent most of her free time during her childhood exploring the outdoors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from Alfred University, and, most recently lived in the Washington, D.C. area before moving back to Western New York. She worked in management and operations at her previous position, and also served as a community leader, which allowed her to represent her employer in the communities surrounding Washington, D.C. Using that experience, along with past experience with RTPI, a strong customer service background, and ties within the Jamestown community, she hopes to be a driving force in ‘getting the word out’ about RTPI. Besides her interest in the natural world, Jane is also very passionate about the arts, as well as social issues such as Veterans affairs. She is a member of the Chautauqua County Visitor’s Bureau Board of Directors, serving as Treasurer. She is also a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, and the Carnahan-Jackson Foundation Grants Committee in Jamestown. When she isn’t working at RTPI or volunteering in the community, she likes to spend her free time with her friends and family (especially her niece and nephews), attending live music shows, visiting other galleries and museums, and learning how to be a better birder.
