With Gratitude From Your CEO

I love this time of year.  After the exuberance of summer and the vibrant colors of fall, I’m thankful for the days growing shorter. The nights longer. Temperatures falling. Silhouettes of bare branches against a leaden sky promising snow. All of nature winding down. Encouraging quiet. Reflection. Introspection. [more]

Marbled Godwits by Neil Rizos – A Sculpture with Prestige

This gorgeous sculpture  – entitled “Marbled Godwits” by Neil Rizos –  is the recent winner of both The Allied Artists of America Marilyn Newmark Award and the American Plains Artists Sculpture Award. Of his creation, Rizos wrote: “Marbled Godwits are large cinnamon-colored shorebirds that nest on the northern Great Plains in summer.  When they leave the prairies, they migrate to coastal regions from Virginia to Texas and from Oregon to Mexico. They feed in shallow water along the shoreline or on tidal mudflats, probing...

Snowy Owl Snooze

Snowy Owl Snooze

We were lucky enough to have a Snowy Owl stop by Stratford Point today for a snooze! There have been several in the surrounding Stratford/Milford area for a few weeks, though they have stopped on the property only a couple of occasions during that time. Chickadee and Milkweed

The pieces included in RTPI’s current exhibition, “Neil Rizos:The Art of Exploration” – including this drypoint print of a Black-capped Chickadee – are available for purchase, and would make wonderful gifts for bird, art, or nature enthusiasts! Of this piece, Rizos wrote: “I’ve stayed away from this bird as a subject because it is so cute that almost any image would be appealing no matter the quality or lack of quality of the design. But then I saw this bird on a dried milkweed and the similarity of shapes, sizes and...

Labels and concepts certainly have their place (as in this essay) but once the mind suspends the practice of attaching labels and concepts, the world is experienced in a very different manner. The first concept to dissolve is that of Beginning and Ending, at which point all is recognized as a constantly transforming whole with no distinct boundaries – more easily seen in the ocean, perhaps, than the...
