Fall Trail
This is typically a terrific October weekend to get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall foliage starting to peak in the Northeast. However, we will be seeing some chilly temperatures and snow in some areas…that just means you have to bundle up a little more before you head to the great outdoors. Last Saturday the Aspetuck Land Trust held its second fall “hawk walk” of the season at the Trout Brook Valley Conservation Area in Easton/Weston, Connecticut. I tagged along to help find some birds and talk about the wonderful land, wearing my hat for both RTPI and as a member of the Aspetuck Land Trust Land Management Committee. The U.S. Coast Guard is hosting an open house at Stratford Point lighthouse in Stratford, Connecticut on Saturday, October 17th from 9am-3pm. Audubon Connecticut’s Director of Bird Conservation Patrick Comins and RTPI’s Conservation & Outreach Coordinator Scott Kruitbosch will be co-leading bird walks at Stratford Point at 9:00, 12:00 and 3:00. This date corresponds with the peak of birding at this spectacular birding spot.
